In early 2003 Rivington Street Studio were asked by the University to carry out a study of the existing space usage within the School of Engineering and Design. The final scheme was the distillation of a lengthy briefing process with the two primary aims of relocating the Design Department from its current base at the Runnymede Campus, and to rationalise existing uses to make more space available. The refurbished spaces include machine workshops, teaching rooms, laboratories and a multi-function exhibition centre.
