Burnside Alternative Provision Secondary School

Burnside Secondary School is an Alternative Provision (AP), providing education to around 30 students aged 11-16 who have experienced difficulties and been excluded from mainstream education. The student cohort also sometimes includes students with EHCP’s.

Proposals include a part two storey part single storey new building which will be delivered in phases on an occupied site, a new zoned playground and a MUGA. The proposed building is designed to the DfE Output Specification and includes general teaching classrooms, specialist teaching spaces, fitness suite, main hall and a dining hall.

Safeguarding of students is key to this project, the building position and arrangement of the external space has been carefully planned to address this. The building will create a fresh new street frontage for the site and will reinforce the School’s aspirations to provide a positive, welcoming and inclusive environment for the students.
