City, University of London – School of Arts

This project brings together previously disparate departments from the School of Arts into the Grade II listed Victorian College Building. Around 3,300sqm of re-modelled and extended space includes a flexible music performance space, Gamelan room, ensemble room, specialist music recording studios, radio and TV studios, extensive computer facilities, social/focus areas, a resource centre and open plan office space. It required complex spatial planning and ingenious construction solutions within a tight budget and the need to phase implementation within the continuously occupied building. The result is smart, modern and functional, whilst retaining the character of the original building where appropriate.

"I think it's a marvellous project which has transformed the department, and I have everything I dreamt of."
