Rivington Street Studio was commissioned by Gordonstoun in 2019 to produce a Masterplan which reflects the School’s vision as a world leader in character education. The Masterplan aims to enhance the green infrastructure, to reflect the school’s beautiful location in Moray, to improve the built environment.
The masterplan encompasses a new classroom village, additional boarding houses, and remodelling and refurbishment initiatives for retained buildings. Sustainability is embedded into the plan along with concept proposals for the landscaping and site infrastructure.
The first phase of the Classroom Village, the Queen Elizabeth II Rooms, has been delivered, with the new sixth-form building currently underway. This will continue theme of simple elegant sustainable buildings set within the landscape with a strong emphasis on the relationship of inside and outside space: A key part of the School’s rich character education and ethos.
